Having successfully retained a diverse collection of manufacturers, warehouses and service providers over the years, the greater DuBois area has a strong manufacturing/industrial base that serves as the foundation for the local economy.
Our pro-growth environment has helped to keep our economy moving forward. Several major construction projects are underway locally which will add significantly to the local economy. Penn Highlands DuBois hospital campus continues to expand as they execute their buildout of a $111 million dollar Master Facilities Plan.
The recent completion of a half-mile of roadway to connect Shaffer Road to Industrial Drive (shown above while under construction) opens up over 200 acres of land for commercial and light industrial development. The $1.1 million dollar roadway project is expected to add a significant number of jobs in the coming years, with over 100 jobs already planned.
The powdered press metal industry, which was founded in our three-county area in the 1940s has become an integral part of the nation’s manufacturing process and every aspect of the industry is located here: press manufacturers, operators of all types, heat treaters and sinterers, die makers and quality control analysis. Gasbarre Products, Inc., Symmco, Inc., Atlas Pressed Metals and MPP-Falls Creek are among the many industry leaders located here.
Traditional metalworking is also an important industry, with fabricators, rail car repair facilities, tool and die shops, and welders of all types calling this area home.
Many other industries have found DuBois to be a critical element in their success. Glass recycling, healthcare and uniform laundering at Paris Companies, railroad tie treating, and paper sheeting are all part of our diverse business community.
