Local Wines & Spirits
Sampling locally produced wines and spirits has become a popular way to relax with friends. As enjoying wines has become part of our culture, the number of wineries has risen to meet the demand. The greater DuBois area offers many events throughout the year for wine-lovers, but the largest locally is the annual Grapes and Hops Walk in downtown DuBois.
Located in downtown, Two Birch Winery features a wide selection of unfiltered wines to suit any taste, including reds, whites and a variety of fruit wines.
Wineries are not just retail locations – tasting rooms with dining options ranging from snacks to full dine-in menus are common. In addition to producing and distributing their product, in many cases they have also become entertainment venues, offering regularly scheduled live entertainment.
The Winery at Wilcox, recognized as the largest wine producer in Pennsylvania – makes over 100,000 gallons of wine annually. When the Winery at Wilcox first opened their doors 26 years ago they offered eight different varieties of wine. Today, guests visiting their new tasting room (shown here) on Bee-Line Highway, near the DuBois Mall, can select from 35 varieties.
For over 25 years, Laurel Mountain Winery has been crafting its award-winning wines. Visit Falls Creek to tour the Antique Tool Museum or their gift shop featuring specialty foods and locally-crafted goods.
Located near the range of Pennsylvania’s wild elk herd, Wapiti Ridge Wine Cellars offers their locally-produced wines from their picturesque location along Bennetts Valley Highway.
Distilleries are becoming more prominent throughout the area. Triple Nickel Distillery, located in the heart of elk country offers a variety of blended flavor distilled spirits with all natural ingredients.
