Welcome to the
DuBois Area
Welcome to the DuBois Area
Welcome to our community. Whether you are just here to rest after a long day on the road or you have recently moved to the area, as so many have, we are glad you are here. While the pandemic of 2020 has impacted everyone worldwide, our community continues to move ahead, and looks forward to the days when this experience is just a distant memory. What we will remember is the support our community gave one another, and the way our front-line workers faced risks to keep us supplied and first-responders worked to keep us safe. We will remember the heroes at the hospital and in the medical offices. We will remember the investments and efforts made by our area businesses to ensure that we could safely do business in the local community. We will remember all of the extra efforts made by our teachers, parents, and students to keep our educational system operating. Covid-19 has been challenging, but our community has risen to meet that challenge, just as strong communities all across this nation have, and we have endured. Now we look forward to better and brighter times ahead.
National trends are having a positive impact on our community, particularly in housing, where we have seen strong demand for homes. What seems like a generational-shift in population trends has seen people leaving the major cities and seeking out communities like ours where their dollar goes further and they can enjoy the great outdoors. These factors are driving local home sales and helping our community to grow.
Recently, the Greater DuBois area has welcomed many individuals and families from distant communities – drawn here by the combination of affordable home prices and excellent quality of life. The area offers an attractive, safe community with easy access to major cities, but few of their problems. We expect this trend to continue now that working remotely is not only an option, but is encouraged by many employers.
DuBois offers an active lifestyle, with new events, outdoor opportunities, and businesses starting up and expanding all the time. Capitalizing on the natural beauty of the area, Treasure Lake Resort offers an active vacation lifestyle in its 8,000+ acre lakeside community. The resort features waterfront and woodland home sites surrounded by amenities to help residents and visitors make the most of their free time.
The greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to the growth and prosperity of area businesses and the community as a whole. Decades of investments have formed the community that we are proud to call home.
From the construction of Interstate 80 in the 60s, the development of the Treasure Lake resort community in the 70s, and the growth of Penn Highlands into a regional healthcare powerhouse in the past decade, major investments have changed our community for the better. DuBois is constantly growing, expanding and improving – something is always under construction. The area’s economy is the envy of many communities and the region’s industrial base is diverse. The Chamber’s service area includes portions of two counties: Clearfield and Jefferson, and the 13 townships and boroughs, including Sykesville, Brockway, Falls Creek and Reynoldsville, (shown above) that make our area so unique. Whether you are a lifelong resident, a new member of the community, or just visiting – we want you to know we are glad you are here and we wish you a warm welcome to the greater DuBois area. This Community Profile is designed to help you learn the community’s many strengths and discover all there is to see, do, and enjoy in the region.
